Why GMB Fuel Pumps?

GMB Fuel Pumps use only durable, OE replacement electric motors. These motors are developed to match the manufacturer’s specifications in terms of voltage, amperage, resistance, pressure, and volume to guarantee long lasting performance, consistent fuel pressure, and steady fuel delivery. GMB Fuel Pumps also use 99.90% pure copper on the internal wiring for greater electrical conductivity and optimal performance.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Inferior motors burn out and deliver inconsistent fuel pressure to your engine. Inconsistent fuel pressure can cause your engine to misfire, stutter, or even shut down completely.

NOTE: Inconsistent fuel pressure can also be caused by low-grade wiring. All GMB Fuel Pumps feature premium-grade electrical components (including wiring).

High-Grade Aluminum Cased Motors

GMB Fuel Pump motors are encased in a plastic fixture, and then that fixture is enclosed in a high-grade protective aluminum heat dissipation sleeve made of 5052 grade aluminum alloy.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

An enclosed electric motor can generate high temperatures when running. GMB’s high-grade protective aluminum heat dissipation sleeve allows the heat radiating from the electric motor to quickly dissipate and prevent an overheating condition. This added sleeve increases the motor life dramatically and helps prevent the motor from burning out.

High-Grade Vacuum Formed Plastics (POM)

GMB Fuel Pump Assemblies are made from high-grade vacuumed formed plastics to ensure that there are no cracks or pores during the molding process. This is the same technology that is used when making many other plastic components found in automobiles, including engine covers, intake manifolds, radiator tanks, etc.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Using a high-grade vacuum formed plastic creates a component that won’t lose its integrity when hot. Weak and/or poorly made plastic fuel pump assemblies can warp, which causes stress on the internal pump and components and affects the float levers.

150 Micron Pre-Pump Fuel Filters (Strainer)

GMB Pre-Pump Fuel Filters (also called a strainer) have a 150 micron rating and are made from the best non-paper filtering material available. All GMB Fuel Pump Assemblies include a filter (strainer). Fuel Strainers are also included with fuel pump kits, where noted.

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?

Fuel pump strainers are essential to keeping fuel tank and fuel contaminants out of the fuel pump. Clogged fuel strainers cause the fuel pump to draw much higher current leading to imminent failure. Fuel pump contamination along with clogged filters are the leading cause of premature Fuel Pump failure.

NOTE: Clogged Fuel Strainers are also caused by improper cleaning of the fuel tank at fuel pump installation. The fuel tank needs to be emptied and thoroughly cleaned of all debris when installing a new Fuel Pump to ensure long life.

Educate Your Customers About Preventative Maintenance!

Preventative maintenance is the key to maximizing the performance and durability of any fuel pump. Here’s a list of maintenance tips to share with your customers:

  1. Change your in-line fuel filter every 6-12 months.
  2. Thoroughly empty and clean the fuel tank at installation, as well as using a brand new fuel pump strainer to maximize the Fuel Pumps’ life.
  3. Pour a bottle of sludge reducer into your vehicle’s fuel tank at least once a year. This will break up deposits inside your vehicle’s fuel tank that can cause clogs in your fuel system.
  4. To ensure your fuel pump stays cool, try to keep your vehicle’s fuel tank at least 1/2 full.
  5. Whenever you buy gasoline, avoid off-brand gas stations, as they often sell low-grade gasoline.
  6. If you pull into the gas station and see that the underground tanks are being filled, come back later. If you fill the gas tank in your vehicle when the main tanks are being filled, you’ll end up with contaminants in your fuel system.
